a) Regular force play rules apply at all bases, tag out rules apply at all bases except home. b) All plays at home base are force plays. This is to eliminate the possibility of injuries. Runners at home will not touch the plate, but will cross a line running parallel and to the right of the plate. Runners touching the plate are out. Catchers must touch home plate while holding the ball, prior to the runner crossing the home plate line to make an out. Once a runner has past the commit line (See (e)), the catcher or any other defensive player may not make a play on the runner. If the runner is tagged by a defensive player past the commit line, the tag does not count. All plays made once a player passes the commit line must occur at the plate. c) If a runner touches home plate, the runner is out. d) Any defensive player can provide backup to the catcher to make a play at home. All other parts of this rule apply regardless of which defensive player makes the play at home. e) There is a commit line half way between 3rd and home. Once any portion of a players body passes this line, they must go home. If they return to 3rd, they are automatically out. Player can not advance to home on a steal, passed ball, wild pitch, or a ball thrown back to the pitcher. A runner on third must be batted in or forced home by a walk or as part of a continuation of a play (i.e. overthrow) including any continuation in play resulting from the catcher throwing the ball to any offensive player other than the pitcher.
Lead Offs | Runners may leave the base when the ball has crossed the plate. If they leave early, they will be warned once and then called out.
Sliding | Sliding is allowed
Base Runner Advancement | Following a fairly hit ball, the advancing of runners is considered ‘over’ when the ball is returned to the pitcher.
Overthrows | Runners advance 1 base only on an overthrow and can still be called out.
Contact | Runners are instructed to avoid making contact. A player who runs into another player will be returned to the bench for the rest of the inning. This rule works both offensively and defensively.
Protests | There are no protests or appeals
Scoring | Scores & Standings | Score and standings will not be kept as the emphasis is on player and team skill development not on winning. | Score is to be kept via the scorekeepers book. |
